April Meeting Recap, June Meeting scheduled

Our April meeting was a great success and was attended by many members and great speakers, Kelli Carter, RN; Linda Lofaro, Acpuncturist and Herbal medicine, and Charity Solberg, Massage Therapist @ the Spine and Disc Center of Arizona!  Many thanks to these women for all the information they presented to us.

We had several new members attend our meeting and we are happy to welcome them and share any information we have with them! We support each other!

Exciting news as our next meeting will be held June 11th instead of our regular July meeting. We were able to schedule a psychologist who will speak about anxiety and depression!  More details following re:Dawn Byrd,Psy.D.

Plan to attend this informative meeting! 11:00 am to 1:00 pm- Mercy Conference Room!

  1. Judy Campbell says:

Hi, My name is Judy Campbell, and I was diagnosed with Chiari and Syringomyelia in 1967. I was 25 years old and had been very ill for 6 years. Unfortunately, back then they did not have an MRI so I repeatedly had lumbar punctures and mylograms (which I hated). I attended the University of Michigan Medical Center about every 6 months, but they could not find my problem. My health continued to decline until I was sent, as an emergency patient, to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester – the only Mayo Clinic at that time. I saw a neurologist, on the first day, who sent me to a neurosurgeon, and he put me in the hospital that afternoon. The next morning at 6:00 am, the orderlies took me to the mylogram room. Several doctors were there for the test. They discovered a syrinx at least 7 inches long! They left the dye in my spine and took me immediately to brain surgery; after which, I had an “after death” experience! Some of the symptoms reversed themselves – some pain, reflexes, double vision, and others were all a little better, but I have lived for 55 years with excruciating pain in my right arm and now, at 74 years old, symptoms are returning – double vision, numbness, etc, I wear a Fentynal 100 pain patch which helps – without it I don’t think I could survive! I never expected to live this long and am grateful for every day that I do. I attended your meetings years ago and enjoyed the speakers and the other members. I fell 9 years ago and broke my hip and ever since have been in an assisted living facility – a lovely one. I wonder if there is a member who lives in my area or close by who could pick me up and bring me to a meeting? I would especially like the next one on depression! My address is: Grand Court, 262 E. Brown Rd., #326, Mesa, 85201 – close to the corner of Mesa Drive and Brown Rd. My phone number is: 480-733-5875. I do not have an answering service so am sometimes difficult to reach. The best times are between 10:30am – 3:00pm. Thank you, Judy Date: Sun, 17 Apr 2016 21:03:49 +0000 To: jzc1942@hotmail.com
